Getting ready to go for a rainy walk.

It's raining, but we still need to get our fresh air and exercise - so it's time for a walk. The children were equipped with boots and raincoats. We had a lovely neighbourhood walk and then we came back to daycare and splashed in the puddles.

What do you do on a rainy day?

It's August and it's supposed to be sunny and hot - but it's not !!!! So, what do you do on a rainy day? At One Shining Moment Child Care Center we have fun.

In the morning, some of our children were making sounds by rolling up a piece of paper and using it to blow through. Jayne thought this would be a good opportunity to make instruments. We gathered our materials, containers with lids, pasta, shells, jingle bells, styrofoam nuggets and pipe cleaners and the children set about making their instruments. When we were all done, we had some great sounds and so we had a marching band parade - what fun !!!!

Chocolate Tomato Soup

It all started innocently enough, with Jordynn & Sean mixing together some key ingredients. But then, everybody got involved and we came up with:
"Chocolate Tomato Soup". If you want to make this at home, you need - flowers, sand, water, leaves and grass and you should serve it in a half squished chewed up ball - YUM YUM !!!!!

Zoe

ZOE

Zoe is our newest member as well as the oldest child at One Shining Moment. She is having a great time being a mentor for the younger children. Zoe enjoys reading to the children, playing on the hammock and exploring with play dough.

Zoe is in tap dancing. She is very good at it and was showing the other children how it's done.

We were using dusters to splatter paint with, Zoe thought that we should clean the climber after and got the little children involved.

Why not stop for a drink on a hot sunny day?

Playing with her new pal Sofia out in the garden. They were making the leaves dance

Sofia

SOFIA

Sofia is our Teacher. The way she helps the teachers as well as the smaller chidlren is great! Sofia really enjoys playing house with the older chidlren. She is always making up new games. Sofia enjoys painting the most and drawing her family. Even though she is a teacher we find that every day she does something so silly she reminds us of "Amillia Bedillia", if you have no idea who that is, let me just say "man is she funny!"

Why not use a ball as a hat?

She made the most beautiful blue rock ever

Foam painting a picture of her family

Loving the animals at the rainbow petting zoo

Sofia loves to dance to ABBA! she's our dancing queen!

Hunter

HUNTER

Hunter is our dare devil! Anything that you ask him not to do, you can bet that will be his next move. He is a smart boy with the most beautiful eyes. Hunter enjoys EATING, playing "MONSTER", running, jumping, climbing, (I think you get the picture) His best friend at daycare would have to be Solomon. The boys have the best love hate relationship ever. Since Hunter has been coming to daycare he has started to talk a lot more than before. He is known for adding "Le" or "du" in front of a word. "example.... Le Moo" means the cow. None of us speak French, that's just his thing. The center wouldn't be the same without this super cute, super busy little guy!

As an open ended art activity we decided to explore shaving cream...he had a blast as you can see. This is one of Hunter's all time favourites.

Working hard with a tower of play dough

Hunter would be happy if he could stay in water FOREVER!

At the daycare the children made Meatballs for lunch. What a great chef!

This may look like someone splashed him but no, Hunter likes to fill the Frisbee up with water and dump it over his own head. We laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes.

When we get ready to go outside we put sun screen in our hair. Hunter wanted a picture, he kept saying:

"ROCK 'N ROLL! "

Sean

SEAN
Sean is our dreamer. He has the biggest imagination and loves to tell stories at lunch time. He enjoys playing "puppies" and house with the other children. He is always making sure that his friends are okay if they fall down or feel upset. He is the first to offer a hand to help the teachers or children at the center. Sean is very excited to start Kindergarten this September!

Sean is giving puppy food to Sofia for the Mommy Dog

How could you just not love him to pieces?

Our Seany, always thinking of a way to make one thing into another. The man need's a hat he told us.

WOOHOO GO SEAN GO! he showed all of his friends how to break dance today. It was very cool!

Solomon

SOLOMON
Solomon is our thinker. He is wise beyond his two years and is full of questions. His favourite activity at daycare is anything with Hunter. These two will find all sorts of stuff to get into and then laugh hysterically . When Solomon speaks he melts your heart. His voice is so sweet and you can tell he is really thinking about what he is about to say. At daycare he loves to play with the stuffed animals and scarfs. He also enjoys his nap time... and jumping on the couch.

This is one sunny afternoon on the climber. He was playing house with Hunter

In the mornings one of the first areas that Solomon goes to is the water table, where he uses his imagination to create all sorts of dialogs

This was when he was a PURPLE MONSTER!!!!! ARR

A happy little dancer

A Freeze Dance Party

On a rainy day, the children at One Shining Moment Child Care Center love to run around and play outside just like any other day. But, because our time is a little more limited, sometimes we like to dance around indoors too. Freeze dance is always a favourite but today we added to it by having each child take turns in their own dance.

This is Sean "breakdancing"!!!

Hunter dancing to "rock and roll"

Slow and steady dancing for Chloe today

And Zoe showing off her tapdancing skills

Jordynn took a whild to get into it today, but when she did - she "rocked"

Is this the happiest boy in the world - yep it's Solomon!!

The Dancing Queen - Sofia

Chloe

CHLOE

Chloe was the first child at One Shining Moment. When she first started daycare she did not speak English but now she is a chatterbox. Chloe enjoys dancing to ABBA, singing at circle, hasing the other children around being the BEST "monster" ever and she loves to snuggle with her favourite stuffed animal "Whale"

Once she feels comfortable with an activity there is no stopping her, she loves all types of art activities.

It took her about two weeks to climb up on the horse, what a proud day it was for her

Enjoying a beautiful sunny day in the garden

This is a classic picture of Miss. Chloe. She was so excited when we turned on the water for the slip and slide. She had a big smile all morning long
